All competitors had to frame the same 6" x 6" photo, which was of a tree, printed on metal.

I decided to feature it as a window in a room based on the TV show, Dark Shadows.

Other than the chandelier and mirror, I hand cut everything from matboard, which I then coloured with pencil crayons to look like wood paneling, hardwood flooring, a fireplace and a rug.

The louvered doors are also matboard which were carved by hand, as were the crown moulding around the ceiling and the base of the chandelier.

The curtains were made by peeling off the top layer of a matboard and wetting it before shaping it to look like curtains. The curtain rod is made from a bamboo skewer.

The chandelier started with a three-hook fishing lure to which I added Swarovski crystals.

The final touch was adding LED lights around the "window" to brighten it up. The piece was framed using a beautiful, rich line of 5 frames stacked to achieve its needed depth of 6 inches.
